Overlooking Bardsey Island

Monday

We will be there to meet you as you arrive in Aberdaron, a beautiful fishing village at the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula. On your way you might like to visit Snowdonia or one of the great castles on the coast. Park at Manaros and settle into your rooms any time after 3.30pm where you either cook for yourselves in the fully equipped kitchen or go out to eat in the hotels in the village. We have a stock of 30 Saracen and Trek cycles and good cleaning and maintenance facilities. Cycle hire is included in this package - also a back up transport service in case of serious breakdown.

Tuesday

We will provide you with a suggested route through the interior of Pen Llŷn as far north as Nefyn with a return via the coastal lanes. You will see ancient standing stones and burial chambers, pilgrimage churches, a pub on the sands at Porth Dinllaen see www.tycoch.co.uk and possibly seals and dolphins. For the quality of the countryside see Google Earth

 Cycling on the peninsula

Wednesday

We will provide you with a suggested route that will take you east to Abersoch returning along the coastal lanes of Hell’s Mouth Bay. You will see traditional farms, a sandy beach 4 miles long and the lively sailing village of Abersoch. See www.rhiw.com

Thursday

This is a chance to explore the countryside overlooking Bardsey Island and all the land to the west of Mynydd Rhiw. Among the places that you could visit are St. Mary’s Well right by the sea at the tip of the peninsula, Llangwnnadl Church with its 3 naves, the traditional craft and environmental centre at Felin Uchaf see www.felinuchaf.com , or the National Trust house at Plas yn Rhiw.

Friday

After checking out of Manaros, drive to Porth Meudwy, not far from Aberdaron, and take the Enlli ferry across to Bardsey Island see www.bardsey.org. This is a beautiful place, full of wildlife and steeped in history. Visitors have three hours to explore before returning to the mainland. The cost is £28 per head see www.bardseyboattrips.com returning circa 3:30pm to set off for home.

The above is a suggestion of the routes to be used. You can vary the distance and the exact route to suit your own requirements. The prices of this package (including cycle hire, linen, breakfast, loan of maps and GPS kit and care and attention throughout) are listed here. If some members of the group would like to do something else other than cycling then see our other packages - perhaps golf or walking, and we will do our best to let you mix and match the activities.
